Ron Guth:

The 1830 Templeton Reid $5 gold piece is extremely rare, with only six examples known at present. Two examples reside in the Smithsonian Institution: one from the Lilly collection and the other from the original Mint Cabinet, leaving only four potential candidates available for purchase. Since 1979, this type has appeared at auction only twice, so the opportunity to acquire a Templeton Reid $5 is literally a once-in-a-lifetime event.
