Jaime Hernandez:

The 1836 Proof Lettered Edge Bust Half Dollar is very rare in all grades. There is more than one die marriage known and it is still estimated that about 15 examples exist in all die marriages combined. In the 1830's, coins were easily struck by special request and it is believed that because there are different die marriages, these coins were struck at different times during the year.
