Ron Guth:

Judd 93 is a very rare Half Dollar pattern of 1839. Joining auction appearances together brings the total number of demonstrably different examples down to five, with a couple more in institutions (Smithsonian, Byron Reed Collection in Omaha, and the Harry W. Bass, Jr. Research Foundation). The best example is the PCGS PR66 that sold in January 2015 for $35,250, setting a record price for this Judd number.

The obverse is unusual in that Liberty's head is turned 180 degrees and faces right. The reverse is the Small Letters type used on regular issue Half Dollars of the year.
