Ron Guth:

Judd-1102 is a copper version of the regular 1871 Quarter Dollar. These are extremely rare, with only four or five known (the PCGS Auction Prices Realized list 13 occurrences of J-1102, but they represent several reappearances of the same coin -- for instance the five NGC PR67CAM listings are all for the same coin). According to Saul Teichman at www.uspatterns.com, these may have been sold to collectors as parts of sets of off-metal denominations.
