Ron Guth:

The "Goodspeed" Lesher Referendum Dollar was a limited edition made for a jewelry company in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The spelling on the known examples alternates from Goodspeed to Goodspeeds, which reflects the similar variances in the Giles City Directory of 1900. Based on the serial numbers of the five surviving examples, less than 50 examples were struck, and the real number was probably closer to 30.
