Jaime Hernandez: The 1909 V.D.B. Doubled Die Lincoln cent is the first doubled die variety in the Lincoln cent series. There are atleast two different doubled die varieites for this year.

For the 1909 V.D.B. Doubled Die Type 1, the doubling is most prominent on the date, specifically on the first three digits. Also on the word Liberty, with the most dramatic doubling being on the last three letters of the word Liberty.

The 1909 V.D.B. Doubled Die Type 1 is not as dramatic as the 1917, 1936 Type 1 or 1955 Doubled Die's. However, the doubling is prominent enough to see with the naked eye. The 1909 V.D.B. Doubled Die Type 1 is also more available than the 1917 and 1936 Doubled Die, but not as availabe as the 1955 Doubled Die.
