Jaime Hernandez:

The 2006-P Jefferson Nickel featured a new design that was inspired by a portrait of Thomas Jefferson from 1800 when he was 57 years old.

Obverse: Depicts Thomas Jefferson's face and bust on the left side of the coin. It has the inscriptions, "In God We Trust, Liberty and 2006."

Reverse: The reverse of the coin features the same Monticello building used on Jefferson Nickels from 1938 - 2003.It has the inscriptions "E Pluribus Unum, Monticello, Five Cents and United States of America."
