Charles Morgan:

The 1794 Liberty Cap Cent, Sheldon 54, Slanting 7

The first of three uses for Obverse 26 and the final deployment of Reverse X. Of the varieties sharing this reverse die, only S-49 (#35609) is more frequently encountered; the other marriages remain quite scarce. This obverse is immediately recognizable by the 7 in the date, which is distinctly canted to the right. That hallmark, combined with the touching tips of the wreath on the reverse, makes this variety exceptionally easy to identify.
