Ron Guth:

The 1794 O-108 Half Dollar is a very rare variety, with only 7-8 pieces known. The finest example appears to be the NGC VF20 that sold in the 2/2001 Goldbergs sale of the Benson Collection. The most recent example to appear on the market is the NGC F12 from the Eric Newman Collection.

All examples of this variety show an obvious die break through stars 10 to 13 (lower right obverse). This is most likely the reason for the extreme rarity of this variety.
