PCGS-Graded World Coins Bring High Results in Stephen Album Rare Coins Auction 35

Stephen Album Rare Coin auctions are known for their diverse selections of world coinage. Among the sale was numerous coins certified by PCGS which far exceeded estimates.

In Session A, PCGS certified India coins highlighted the sale.

Lot 175 India Mughal Empire AH1027//13 (1618) Zodiac ½ Rupee KM-138.2 Leo PCGS graded XF40 sold for an astonishing $45,150 with a presale estimate of $10,000-$15,000.

Lot 249 India Mysore AM1221 (1792) Paisa KM-123.1 PCGS graded MS62BN fetched $1071 with a presale estimate of $200-$300.

Lot 361 British India 1924 Bombay mint 2 anna S&W-8.238 PCGS graded MS64 sold for $565.25. The coin had a presale estimate of only $100-$150 and a Krause price guide value of $80.

Lot 362 British India 1911 Calcutta Mint ¼ Rupee PCGS MS64 sold for $3094 with a presale estimate of $1,000-$2,000.

Finally Lots 378 and 379 were British India grain tokens used during the South India famine of 1876. The one seer denomination PCGS graded MS63 sold for $3570 on a presale estimate of $800-$1000 and the ½ seer denomination PCGS graded MS61 sold for $1309 on a presale estimate of $500-$700.

In session D, PCGS certified Chinese coins brought significant prices.

Lot 1707 China Republic (1916) $1 L&M-942 Y-322 PCGS graded AU58 sold for $23,800 with a presale estimate of $5,000-$6,000.
