  1. Place my collection in an auction! Coins are bringing great prices at auction.
  2. Consign them to a dealer! Set a net price and consign them to a dealer that I trust.
  3. Sell them at a coin show! Take a table and price the coins between wholesale and retail.
  4. Sell them outright to a dealer! Have two or three top dealers bid on the collection and sell to the highest offer.

Our Readers Ask

Question: There are a few grading services that show the 3rd side [the edge] of the coin. With PCGS being one of the top grading services, why don't you have slabs that show the 3rd side of the coin?

Answer: When I was doing the road show for the Collectors Universe IPO (over 150 presentations in four weeks!), I had several mutual fund managers ask me what was the most difficult part of the grading service business. My answer was... getting the right holder. It is really difficult to get a holder designed and finished. It takes forever, it's expensive, and it's never right before the 5th or 6th try (if you're lucky).

Changing the holder is a major undertaking and the ability to see the edge is only really significant in a small handful of coins. We are looking at the idea, but I'm having trouble seeing the major benefit to either PCGS or the majority of collectors and dealers.
