1952 Superbird Washington Quarter
Coin collecting is undoubtedly a hobby full of imagination filled with wording many times recognized only by numismatists. In 1952, a proof Washington Quarter was produced containing a letter "S" on the eagle's chest on the reverse of the coin. Once discovered, creative collectors and specialists with wild imaginations quickly referred to this anomaly as a Superbird Quarter as they compared it to the Superman hero character. Nye's Folly The Number One Finest Washington Quarters Classic Set, Circulation Strikes (1932-1964)

This collector added his set on 4/24/08 and right away claimed the #1 spot. With a finest possible set rating of 67.11, this set has a rating of 66.28 and contains several "Top Pops." A special mention to the 1932-D & 1932-S in this set; there were far less minted of this date than any other in this series and this collector has them both in high grade. Click here to view. Set Registry Luncheon Invitations Have Been Emailed
The luncheon is scheduled for August 1st in Baltimore at the ANA. The major winners of the 2008 PCGS and PCGS Currency Set Registry Awards and Hall of Fame inductees will be presented with their awards. This will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Ron Guth, PCGS President, on copper and how to collect it. The panel will consist of several distinguished copper experts, including Stewart Blay, Dennis Loring, Andy Skrabalak and Rick Snow. Yes, PCGS will recognize the 1955 Bugs Bunny Half Dollar and list the appropriate FS-401 reference number on the PCGS label if submitted through the Variety Attribution program.
