Seventy at Seventy Part Four ­– 19th and Early 20th Century Type Coins

The ongoing look at the revered Red Book continues with the fourth installment of “Seventy at Seventy.” The next group of coins explored is widely collected coins from the 19th and early 20th century. As you can see as the series progresses, the changing preferences of hobbyists over the years continues to affect the price performance of coins.

2016 Ends Strong at Legend Rare Coin Auction’s 19th Regency Sale

This 1913 Buffalo Nickel Type I graded PCGS MS68 was one of the highlights of the Regency sale. The results were impressive overall, with a number of record-shattering realizations. Three core collections anchored the sale: the Angel Dee’s Collection of Toned Buffalo Nickels, The Young-Dakota Collection of Proof Barber Dimes, and Part 2 of the Northern Lights Collection of Monster Toned Morgan Dollars.

2016-W Gold Mercury Dimes Sell Out

After a reported sell out of the popular 2016-W Gold Dimes in April, a series of cancelled orders and returns left the Mint with thousands of dimes left over. On December 15, 2016, five months after the initial release, the Mint reoffered the Gold Dimes, clearing out their stock. Here’s a recap of the 2016-W Mercury Dime, from “sell out” to reoffering.
