1972 Eisenhower Dollars

Description: After the cornucopia of coin varieties produced in the 1971 production of Ikes (see my 1971 showcase), 1972 barely slowed down: there were three major reverse varieties from Philadelphia alone, not to mention more double dies, clashes, and peg legs.

97409 1972 $1 Type 2 MS64 666 134 CAC green sticker. March release. DIVa 2T2-101.1 Purchased from Herb Hicks, first reporter of the Type 2 variety and respected author on the subject. This is the early die state version, before the evolution of the obverse "baseball cap" and reverse TAT die crack.
