Combining the Circulation and Proof strikes with major varieties gives us the comprehensive Shield Nickel set. The major challenge here will be the 1867 With Rays Proof. This is an extraordinarily rare coin, with an estimated survival of 60-70 pieces. The two proof-only dates of 1877 and 1878 will be modestly tough as will be the low mintage 1880 Circulation strike. Aside from these, this is a very completable set and provides just enough of a challenge to make it interesting.
