This long-lived series is composed of three different types. The circulation strikes includes rarities from such romantic Mints as Dahlonega, Charlotte, and New Orleans as well as San Francisco and Philadelphia. The early proof issues (1849-1858) contain ultra rarities with the 1858 being the only date that is seen with any frequency. The “sleepers” (unappreciated rarities) of the later dates (1859-1889) include the 1871, 1873 and 1874, while the 1875 is a recognized classic. This set is very difficult to complete. Doing so would be one for the history books. Are you up to the challenge?

Notes: This set has bonuses. Please see the Set Composition for a listing.
