1872 Mint Set
The 1872 Mint Set is the last that retains a true mid-19th century appearance as it marks the final appearance of the Two Cent Piece and the Three Cent Silver Piece. (Only Proofs of these were struck the following year.) The Half Dime and Seated Dollar were also nearing the end of their respective runs, though business strikes would be made in the first half of 1873. As one would expect, the Carson City silver coins will be the toughest to find, and Mint State examples of the Dime, Quarter and Half are rarities of the highest order. The "S" mint Quarter and Dollar are scarce, but available.
Notes: This set has bonuses. Please see the Set Composition for a listing.
