About This Set:
Victoria's early sovereigns featured a shield reverse and two types of obverse. A small young-head design between 1838 and 1848, and a larger young profile from 1849 until 1871. The shield reverse continued until 1874 (London Mint) combined with a larger head obverse. In 1871 London issued the young head obverse with the classic Pistrucci reverse.
In 1887 the Jubilee head obverse was introduced and was used until 1893. In that year the old head obverse was paired with the St. George reverse again. Queen Victoria sovereigns were issued from 1838 to 1901.
PCGS includes coins struck at colonial mints in this set.
