The 1800 Half Dime is easily the most common date of the 1796-1805 era, although "common" is strictly a relative term.  PCGS has certified over four dozen Mint State examples of this date, including one example in MS68, the single finest example of a pre-1805 Half Dime.  MS63 and MS64 grades seem to be the Mint State grades seen most frequently, though they are all extremely desirable and valuable.  Most examples show a fairly straightforward strike, though some weakness at the outer borders is sometimes noted.  The tip of the bust and the corresponding area in the clouds on the reverse may also show weakness.  At the high end, eye appeal has a lot to do with the final grade, as some coins are simply mnore remarkable than others, though none are perfect because of the technical limitations of the time.
