1828 1/2C 13 Stars, BN N1BN Certification #37453837, PCGS #1147

Ron Guth

The 1828 Half Cent is found in two major varieties: the normal 13 stars version and the unusual 12 stars version (an unfortunate oversight on the engraver's part, but good fortune for coin collectors).  The 13 Star version is the more common of the two and is readily available in all grades, including choice Mint State.  Gem examples are a trifle more difficult to locate and none have been graded above MS65 by PCGS.  In addition, the 1828 Half Cent is one of the few dates in whole series that can be found with full Red color.
