1907-D 10C AU55 Certification #16634869, PCGS #4843

Owner's Comments

A very nice AU55, this coin has a scarcity that defies easy explanation. David Feigenbaum writes of a lost shipment when a delivery wagon toppled in the Black Canyon near Gunnison Colorado. Champagne rim toning with marbelized splashes of cobalt blue and rose. Total PCGS population is 24 with 9 in AU 55 and only 6 graded higher. The BCCS rating is R4.

In high grades, the 1907-D Dime is the scarcest of all the 1907 Dimes.  Such is not the case in lower grades, where the 1907-O commands a larger premium, especially in the middle grades of Very Fine to Extremely Fine.  Mint State examples are not particularly rare, and there is an adequate supply of Gem pieces.  Mega-collector Bob Simpson owned one of the nicest -- a colorful PCGS MS67+.
