The 1956-P Franklin Half Dollar is one of the semi key dates in the series, as it has one of the lower mintages for the Franklin Half Dollar series. A little over 4 million examples were struck, which is considerably low, especially if compared to the mintage of the 1963-D Franklin Half Dollars which has a mintage of over 67 million.
The 1956-P is very common in circulated grades and even up to low Uncirculated grades such as MS60-MS63. In MS64 and MS65 they are a little scarcer but can still be bought in large quantities including in rolls. In MS66 condition they are now scarcer but probably several thousand examples still exist. In MS67 condition they are very difficult to find with less than 50 examples known and none being graded higher.
