In 1960, the Mint struck a Large Date and Small Date variety for the Proof Lincoln cent. Interestingly so, it also did the same with the1960 Uncirculated cents from both the Philadelphia and Denver Mints.
For the Proof versions, the Large Date seems to be the most common of the two varieties. The Large Date is also more affordable in most grades compared to the Small Date variety. Both varieties were very popular when they first came out and are still so today. Both the Large and Small Date Proof cents are also considered major varieties, since most collectors who collect Proof cents try to obtain both the Large and Small Date varieties for their sets.
