The 1973-D Eisenhower Dollar has a very low mintage once compared to Eisenhower Dollars from the previous years. For example, in 1972 alone the Denver Mint struck over 90 million coins. Where in 1973, the Denver Mint only struck 2 million Eisenhower Dollars.
The 1973-D as well as all other Denver Mint struck Eisenhower Dollars, usually come in better condition than all the Philadelphia coins.
Mint Set: The 1973-D Eisenhower Dollars were not produced for circulation and they were only sold in Mint Sets by the U.S. Mint. Each 1973 Mint Set came in a sealed white envelope labeled, U.S. Mint 1973, on the outside of the envelope.
Each envelope contained two sealed clear soft plastic pack each a cent, nickel, dime, quarter and an Eisenhower Dollar. One pack was from Philadelphia and the second from the Denver Mint. Each soft pack had an example of each denomination. The price of the set was originally $6.00 each.
