To the left of the design is the word Liberty.

Reverse: The reverse of the coin depicts a soldier in action. The soldier is laying on his stomach and on his knees, similar to a sniper position. To his left is a large military vessel approaching the battle ground. In the sky there is a small fighter aircraft flying towards the battle ground. Arched above the reverse are the words, United States of America. Below the reverse design are the words, E Pluribus Unum and the words, Half Dollar, or the denomination of the coin.
