The 1995 Civil War Battlefields Half Dollar was produced to raise money for the preservation of the Civil War battlefields.
Obverse:The Obverse of the coin depicts a battlefield drummer boy in his civil war uniform. In front of the drummer is the year 1995, or the year in which the coin was issued. Arched above the design is the word, LIBERTY. Below the design is the motto, IN GOD WE TRUST.
Reverse:The reverse of the coin displays a cannon in the battlefields. Arched above the design are the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Above the cannon are the words, ENRICHING OUR FUTURE BY PRESERVING OUR PAST. Arched below the cannon are the words HALF DOLLAR or the denomination of the coin.
Overview:Besides issuing the 1995 Civil War Battlefield Half Dollar, the Mint also sold a Silver Dollar and a $5 Gold coin, all with different designs but yet, with the same Civil War theme.
