This year marked the 10th Anniversary for the Platinum Eagle series and the Mint celebrated by producing a Special 10th Anniversary Platinum Eagle Set. Therefore, the Mint produced three different versions of Platinum Eagles this year, for all four different denominations of $10, $25, $50 and $50 Platinum Eagles.   

They struck Mint State coins, Uncirculated Burnished coins with a W mint mark and a Proof version. The price of Platinum was also very high this year compared to other years making it difficult for collectors to buy all three versions of Platinum Eagles which resulted in very low mintages for many of this year's platinum coin offerings. This included the 2007-W Uncirculated $25 Platinum Eagle, which in the end had a mintage of 3,635 making it a key coin to the Platinum Eagle series.
