The Native American Dollars were first introduced in 2009. Prior to that, Sacagawea Dollars had the same obverse and reverse design from 2000-2008. However, in 2009 the Mint introduced a new reverse design depicting an Native American woman planting seeds on a cornfield.
The Mint authorized the reverse design to be changed every year for the Native American Dollars. Most 2009-S Proof Native American Dollars came in really nice quality ranging from about PR67-PR69 Deep Cameo condition. Coins in PR70 Deep Cameo condition seem to be scarcer but enough coins were struck in this condition to meet collectors demand.
