About This Set: This was a fun set to put together. Bingles were issued in 1935 by the Alaskan Rural Rehabilitation Corporation (ARRC). These were given to transplanted Midwestern homesteaders who settled in Matanuska Valley Colonization Project. Bingles were given legal tender status. In 1937 The government stopped issuing Bingles and began redeaming them for Federal coinage. In 1938 they revoked the legal tender status of Bingles and melted most. an estimated 200 uncirculated sets were preserved. Original mintage's are as follows: 01cent.............5,000 05cent.............5,000 10cent.............5,000 25cent.............3,000 50cent.............2,500 01dollar...........2,500 05dollar...........1,000 10dollar...........1,000 Most if not all this information came from Breens Complete Encyclopedia of U.S.and Colonial coins PGS. 668-670 for further reading.
