Allen Harriman was editor and owner of the very influential Coin Dealer Newsletter from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. He was also a serious coin collector who specialized in extremely high quality 20th Century and Barber coinage. His Superb set of Barber quarters was put together over a 15 year period and was sold intact to Barber specialist Gene Edwards in the early 1980s. The estimated grades are from the notes of David Hall who examined the set just prior to the sale to Gene Edwards.
