About This Set: The obverse of this vibrant and whimsical coin features the coat of arms of the Union of South Africa. A lion stands atop the crest, which is supported by a springbok antelope on the left and an oryx on the right. The reverse, engraved by Jan van Zyl (J.V.Z.), features a black wildebeest (Connochaetes gnou) running on a plain with mountains rising in the distance.
