Hamburg Complete Silver and Gold Set, Circulation Strikes (1873-1914)
This is the complete set of silver and gold coins issued between 1873 and 1914 by the German city of Hamburg. Hamburg, known officially as the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, is the second largest city in Germany (after Berlin) and is one of the major port cities of Europe. This is a relatively large set (95 coins) with only two rarities (both 20 Marks: 1881-J and 1908-J). The high face value of the gold coins meant that few were saved by the general public, thus high-grade examples can be difficult to obtain. Early (pre-1900) silver coins can also be a challenge to find in high grade.
