About This Set: From the Experts at PCGS
The Louis Eliasberg "With Varieties" set of circulation strike $20 Liberties was one of the finest ever assembled. The Eliasberg set is not complete as it is missing the ultra rare 1861 Paquet reverse, and a few other varieties. Nonetheless, the key dates were in very nice condition; the 1854-O is an AU55, the 1856-O is an AU55, and the 1870-CC is an EX40. Many of the early dates are in top condition. There’s even an 1887-S that miraculously is a MS66. The later branch mints, which Eliasberg acquired when he purchased the Clapp collection intact in 1942, feature coins that are off-the-charts quality-wise. These were coins that Clapp had purchased directly from the various mints in the year of issue. They include the following PCGS graded MS67 (!!!!!!!) examples; 1896-S, 1897-S, 1898-S, 1899-S, 1902-S, and 1905-S. These are among the few $20 Liberties ever grade MS67 by PCGS and the numismatic community is able to enjoy these coins today because of the incredible visionary eye for quality of J.M. Clapp and the fact that Louis Eliasberg purchased and preserved the Clapp coins.

Yes Eliasberg had a great collection, BUT if he had a proof rather than abusiness strike why give an assumed grade
