About This Set: From the Experts at PCGS
The Louis Eliasberg type set of major 20th Century Gold designs is off the map in terms of quality. Only the $2-1/2 Indian is sub-Gem quality. Most of the Turn-Of-The-Century Eliasberg coins were from the John Clapp collection, which Eliasberg acquired intact in 1942. From 1892 to about 1910 John Clapp's father, J.M. Clapp, (and after his death in 1906 John Clapp himself) acquired spectacular quality coins directly from the U.S. Mints in the year of issue. This was quite visionary for the time considering that most collectors were not very quality conscious and very few people collected by mint mark. The Eliasberg 20th Century Design Type Set features the very best coins from two spectacular collections, Louis Eliasberg and John Clapp.
