About This Set: From 1878 to 1921 the San Francisco mint was one of the five major US mints producing Morgan dollars some of which went on to become famous in their own right. The 1893-S Morgan dollar with its 100,000 mintage stands atop by its self. Scarce now in all grades especially on opposite ends of the spectrum it has lived up to all the news and stories passed down over the years. The PCGS narrative on this issue explains it rather well. Several over dates and over mint mark examples have been discovered and confirmed in the last 60 -70 years. Even the 1879-S had what turned out to be a reverse 78 strike created from left over dies. Ten of these Morgan dollar reflect the population numbers in this set as scarce, elusive and seldom encountered in PO01 grades..
