About This Set: With the November 2009 acquisition of the Sunnywood Collection of Toned Morgan Dollars, the Simpson Collection added another magnificent set of United States coins. The Sunnywood Collection was painstakingly built over a period of many years, seeking out Morgan dollars with original surfaces, beautiful toning, strong strike, and excellent luster. Morgan dollars have a unique history of undisturbed decades-long storage in bank vaults, during which some of the coins developed incredible natural rainbow toning. The Sunnywood Collection sought out as many dates as possible in gem quality with this spectacular rainbow toning. The remaining dates were sought with attractive original patina. For the rarest dates, examples from the great collections such as Eliasberg and Norweb provided the original gems. With the help of Legend Numismatics, after acquiring the Sunnywood Collection, the new owner replaced three of the coins (1880-CC, 1890-CC, 1891-CC) with magnificently toned examples from the collection of long-time Morgan dollar specialist Bryan Sonnier. The Simpson-Sunnywood set displayed below therefore comprises ninety-four coins from the original Sunnywood set, plus three from Sonnier. Please enjoy the beautiful images of these coins, provided by PCGS.

Congratulations to the new owner of my beautiful toned Morgan dollar collection. I am thrilled to see these coins actively listed on the Registry again, with beautiful new TrueView images that capture the coins more accurately and more beautifully than the images that were made several years ago. I am thrilled to see a number of the coins scored the new "plus" designation, and even a few upgrades. I am also thrilled that three coins from the impressive collection of Bryan Sonnier are now in the set. I had always wanted these three coins, but they were never available for purchase until after my set was sold. I am very happy that the new owner has incorporated them into the set. I would also like to extend my personal thanks to the new owner for graciously offering to keep the "Sunnywood" name on the set, a tribute to my years of hard work in assembling these beautiful coins.
