Collecting California "Fractional" gold is a passion for a growing number of numismatists. Private Mints first issued gold quarter dollars, half dollars and dollar coins during the early years of the great Gold Rush. The basic six-piece type set includes the $1/4 Octogonal and Round, the $1/2 Octagonal and Round, and the $1 Octagonal and Round. For a more comprehensive collection, see the 23-piece complete type set.
