The 50th anniversary of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial was commemorated on the three usual coins; a half dollar, silver dollar and $5 gold piece. As the novelty of commemorative $5 gold pieces fell, distribution slowly declined so the mint state versions are quite a bit scarcer than their proof counterparts.
