Originally from the Chicago Collection and sold last through Stacks Bowers 9/25. Tied for second highest CAC approved. One higher CAC approved (ms63 Pulaski). The Pogue example ms63 is widely considered the best though non-stickered (the Pulaski coin is less known and has not appeared at auction). Highest is an ms63+ that is not as nice as the Pogue coin.
Ben helped me with this one- what a guy! What’s cool about this coin is that it’s a more common date but legitimately rare in gem cac. There are 4 in ms 65 cac with just 2 finer wiry cac approval
What a neat experience- my first ANA show! I got to meet some spectacular people and I learned a ton. I was able to sit with some of the hobby’s most respected numismatists who steered me towards this particular coin. This coin was purchased in an ngc holder and I took a leap of faith crossing it to pcgs and then back to cac- im so glad I did!
