About This Set:
Given 12000 characters by PCGS this is a future OBIT and bragging BIO of my love of coins starting as a very young child, finding a penny and walking to the variety store by myself to buy candy. About 1953 or 1954 at the age of 5 or 6, Harry Abram Tyler , my grandfather, a noted coin collector from Pittsfield, Massachusetts, gave me his old blue Whitman Jefferson nickel album so worn out that tissue paper was needed to hold a few worn nickels in place. Now is it candy or find five pennies and buy a hole filler? Fortunately, Grampy would occasionally bring another nickel when visiting. He was very pleased to see me adding to the set by shoveling snow for 50 cents, cutting grass by pushing an old reel mower for 50 cents and finding soda bottles, returning them for 2 cents and the rare big bottle for 5 cents. Wow, now enough money for nickel candy bars and Mister Jefferson. Slowly as age and strength made for earning more money, Lincoln cents, Roosevelt dimes and Washington quarters were added to Whitman folders. Mowed 22 lawns in high school, still pushing but a 24" rotary I found, most lawns for $2.00, painted houses, cut and hung tobacco in southern Maryland and honor roll high school graduation, Then worked at a Ford dealership, was a butler and chauffeur at Lenard Wood Estate on Lake George, NY, until service in the USAF for 5 years and now a 100% disabled Vietnam veteran. I was saved from a grave head injury by divine intervention and many quarts of blood from all races. That resulted in a 10 month healing tax paid vacation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Self employed since 1972 repairing, roofing, remodeling, gutting, painting, flipping and building rental houses. All the Whitman coins were sold for Dansco Morgan silver dollar collecting. In 1974 met Donna Marie my wife. 1977 bought my first house, renting out 5 rooms on the second floor and lived for free on the first. Morgan silver dollars were upgraded until 1990 when the recession required selling the set due to over speculation with collector car purchases and slow sales. No worries, no hurries, I have a strong back and weak mind, so just work even harder, buy more rental houses and let the 5 roomers per home, more profit than a family, pay off the house mortgages. Finally returned to coins in 2013 and began filling Dansco albums from cents to dollars. ASE looked nice ok collect them also. These Morgans in PCGS holders seemed like the way to go as well. After a lot of e-bay buying, Mike Earl Payne, a coin dealer, asked why I did not have a registry set. Mike, I have no clue what you mean. So Mike registered the Morgans and we started to fill in the few that were missing. As most coin collectors know, there is never enough money for the ego boost of moving on up. Mike drove to my rental home and picked up many pounds of Dansco filled albums to sell on his e-bay store. Yup, Dansco coin money ran out so sold one of the rental homes in 2016. Many more people have helped me over the years and it is impossible to remember them all. Mike Hoyman , a HOF low-ball Morgan collector, helped complete my all poor Morgan set that of course had to be sold for upgrading our lovely liberty lady. Matt Kleinsteuber, owner of NFC, got 2 one of ones made for me! Shaun Bobb, owner of Mikes Coin Chest, gave me CPR, exaggerating, after I cracked out an expensive Morgan that was returned cleaned. Jim Pacino is a great researcher, father, finder, friend and teacher, I believe finally teaching me points and the confidence to bid at the auction houses. Allen Guo, owner of Elite Diversified Investments aka Coins X Collectibles has made us friends, introduced me to his father. sister and made me a very happy customer as well. If you got this far PCGS says there are over 8100 characters left but this hunting and pecking has taken me all day and I cry uncle.

It is an incredible feeling to be playing a very small part in helping you out with building this beautiful set. I love looking at the pictures, & wish they would all post as you have an attractive set. Again congratulations on this journey.
Thanks for the mention, and the memories. It was surely fun while it lasted. Sorry it ended the way it did. You are truly one of the most dedicated collectors I ever had the pleasure of dealing with. CONGRATULATIONS on achieving top five all time.
Thanks Anonymous User. However, the late great Jack Lee, before + grades, who has been an inspiration to many of us, still has his 1888-s missing. Collectors please call PCGS and get Jack's HOF set, 1888-s returned !
Beautiful Ladies!
