Collecting Seated Dimes in mint state is a significant challenge. Individuals who attempt this series should have a long term perspective of 10 or more years for building a premier set. There are always mint state Seated Dimes on the market, but the challenge lies with finding specimens that provide excellent eye appeal, full strikes, originality and investment value for the grade. Locating PQ specimens will take years of searching dealer pricelists and auction catalogues. The following registry set of business strike examples presents the finest PCGS Liberty Seated Dimes that I have been able to locate and afford over the last 20 years.
After collecting Seated Dimes for many years, I released the third reference book on this historic United State coinage series. The medium is a web-book (The Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Variety Collectors) via a website entitled www.seateddimevarieties.com.
Www.seateddimevarieties.com presents a comprehensive study of Liberty Seated Dime die varieties. The website contains detailed analysis of all known obverse and reverse dies and die marriages by date and mintmark. Over 1200 dimes are listed with 7000+ photographs to simplify variety attributions. Cross reference tables for Ahwash and Greer have been established for associating the varieties to these well known reference sources.
All images contained within this set display were taken by Gerry Fortin using a Nikon Coolpix995 digital camera and photodome. Each image was processed with Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop digital editting software.
