1878 8TF $1 VAM 9, First Die Pair MS62 PCGS #133792

A * This coin is - in my opinion - a Specimen Die. There are no die cracks. There are very early lathe marks in the rim indicating one of the earliest strikes. The coin is PL to DMPL but toned lustrous black. This was Leroy Van Allen's coin and he had it listed as a Specimen as well.

A 14.11a discovery coin

1878 8TF $1 VAM 14.17 Chip in Ear AU58 PCGS #133812

A * CAC..This is the Top Pop 14.17 and the ultra-stopper in the 8TF set. Not only is this coin AU58, it is also PL, but PCGS doesn't put PL designation on Circ Dollars, a Problem that needs to be resolved.
