In 1877, the Liberty Double Eagle was modified for the second time with a slightly larger head on the obverse and the value spelled out in full (TWENTY DOLLARS) at the bottom of the reverse. Some of the key dates in this set come from a rather unexpected mint: Philadelphia. Yes, there are several extremely low mintage dates in the 1880s that will serve as formidable hurdles for anyone undertaking this set. The 1881-82, and 1885-86 all have tiny mintages and are tough. And if you're wondering what happened to the 1883-84 and the 1887, there were NO business strike $20s made that year in Philadelphia. A final key to acquire is the 1879-O - which is the only Type Three $20 Liberty from New Orleans.
