The basic 1867 Proof Set (without the two Nickel varieties) is not an extremely difficult set. All the coins are of average rarity for the period, and with a nominal mintage of 625 pieces, the silver coins can be found without too much effort. However, adding the 1867 With Rays Nickel turns an ordinary endeavor into a very challenging one. While the exact mintage is unknown, most estimates vary between 25 and 50 pieces. Acquiring a nice example will easily run into the mid five figures.
