Beginning in 2006, the U.S. Mint began issuing $50 gold coins. These are the first .9999 fine 24-karat gold coins ever struck by the mint. Considered legal tender, the content and purity is guaranteed by the United States government. This set contains two $50 coins of each year since 2006; one a certified PCGS First Strike™. In addition, this set contains both Circulation Strikes and First Strikes™ from the three fractional pieces ($5, $10 and $25) struck in 2008.
