Edward VI Crown. Originally NGC graded cert# 6054769-003 XF details
Mintage 717,269 “rocking horse crown” The 1935 Crown featured a modernist reinterpretation of a classic British coin design: St George in the act of slaying a dragon. The engraving, crafted by sculptor Percy Metcalf, shows an armoured Saint, his steed rearing over a prone beast. It's a highly stylised image which shows the influence of Art Deco. The rigid poses of horse and rider led to some criticism and the comparisons with a children's rocking horse which give the 1935 Silver Jubilee Crown its name.
