Overton 116, R.3 Pointed 6, w/stem variety appears on the label. Interesting die cracks steal our attention mainly on the obverse, but also on the reverse. While the PCGS label fails to name an Overton die variety, a number of diagnostics help identify this example as O-116. Using language from Donald L. Parsley's volume on Overton varieties, the O-116 obverse description reads, in part: "Die crack at bottom of date becomes sharper, branching into two cracks at left. The crack gradually extends to the right of date and to left through all stars. A new crack appears at top of LIBER. T is broadly recut." The reverse description reads, in part: "Five berries, the lowest one has no stem and is about centered with the last A in AMERICA. Right base of F is missing. A die crack crosses lower tip of eagle's tail feathers and circles to left joining top of UNITED, then above S and through upper part of TATE on later die states." Purchased via eBay from a pawn shop in Colorado, July 22, 2026. $800.
