To determine whether you have a Large Date 1842-O quarter or the rarer Small Date version, just look at the 8 in the date. The Large Date has larger figures and the bottom of the 8 is slightly BELOW the base of the adjacent 1. The Small Date version utilizes smaller numeral punches and the bottom of the 8 is ABOVE the baseline of the adjacent 1 and 4.PCGS #
