Expert Comments

David Akers (1975/88)

Actually more rare in all grades than the extremely popular dates of the 1880's, and many times as rare in strictly uncirculated condition. Clash marks are often visible and on some specimens the word LIBERTY can be seen in an arc near the date. (This particular type of clash mark appears on a number of later dates as well including 1864, 1866, 1867, and 1886.)
