Similar in overall rarity to the 1865 despite a mintage that is nearly twice as great. Many business strikes show severe clash marks on the reverse with the word LIBERTY being clearly visible in an arc below the date. Although a very scarce date, gem examples are available from time to time with the finest I can recall seeing being the superb piece in Stack's March, 1973 sale.
